Anyone for salmon
I've just been reading on the BBC news website that following the completion of the new fish pass at Gathurst that salmon can now reach Wigan again.

I had salmon for my tea yesterday but I don't think it was breed/caught round Wigan On a more serious note If the water companies are allowed to pump sewerage at the scale they are doing now them the seas will have no salmon never mind our local rivers. We have not had the scale of pollution like we have now since before the Victorian era

Perhaps it is because we now have a increasing number of people who do not care what they pollute, be it it a beach, canal, countrtyside, river or even in a road or street.
A attitude of "there are people whose job is to clean up the mess I have made"

The foreigners will be out in droves if we get any decent fish in Wigan waters.

The River Duggy is perfectly clean, until we have heavy rain, and then sewage gets washed into it, and after a deluge, and the river is in flood, just go and stand near it, and it stinks of sewage

I used to go to Ullswater fishing for trout but some of the times you ended up with a shoal of perch which have large spiky backs and are mainly bone. Foreign men walking around the lake used to ask us to save the perch no matter the size. They loved eating them.
